Segera CBO exists to tackle the most pressing challenges in our community lack of safe water, food insecurity, poverty, environmental degradation, and limited access to education. We believe that real change begins at the grassroots, led by the people themselves. Our programs are community-driven, transparent, and built for sustainability, ensuring every donation creates lasting impact.
Water Access
For decades, families in Segera walked long distances to fetch unsafe water from rivers and ponds. This exposed children and elders to waterborne diseases and robbed women of valuable time.
Through the Segera Borehole Water Project, we drill and maintain boreholes to bring clean, safe, and reliable water closer to homes, schools, and livestock.
Our impact so far:
- 3 boreholes drilled, serving 500+ households.
- Reduced cases of cholera and typhoid in the community.
- Women and children now spend less time fetching water, focusing on school and livelihoods.

Poverty Alleviation
Building Sustainable Livelihoods
Poverty limits opportunities and fuels dependency. At Segera CBO, we believe in empowering households with the tools to create their own income.
We support families with small-scale farming, livestock projects, and training in micro enterprises. These initiatives build resilience and reduce vulnerability to drought and famine.
Our focus areas:
- Training farmers in sustainable agriculture.
- Supporting small businesses and savings groups.
- Promoting financial literacy for long-term independence.
Restoring Dignity Through Food
During drought and famine, the elderly and vulnerable suffer the most. Many go days without a meal.
Our Food Drive Campaign provides nutritious meals and food packages to those most in need, ensuring no elder or child sleeps hungry.
Recent impact:
- 1,200 meals served to elderly residents.
- Emergency food kits distributed during the last drought.
- Improved nutrition and restored dignity for the most vulnerable.

Tree Planting & Carbon Credits
Protecting Our Future
Climate change is real, and Segera has not been spared. Deforestation has led to soil erosion, unpredictable rainfall, and dwindling water sources.
Through our Tree Planting Campaign, we mobilize the community to restore degraded land, protect water catchment areas, and generate future income through carbon credits.
Our environmental goals:
- Planting thousands of trees annually.
- Creating green jobs for youth through carbon credit projects.
- Conserving biodiversity and restoring natural ecosystems.
Empowering the Next Generation
Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Unfortunately, many children in Segera lack school fees, uniforms, or learning materials.
Segera CBO provides scholarships, school supplies, and mentorship to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn and succeed.
Our education support includes:
- Covering school fees for children from vulnerable families.
- Supplying books, uniforms, and learning resources.
- Mentorship and community education programs.

Community Engagement & Sensitization
Mobilize, Educate, Protect
Segera CBO’s Community Engagement & Sensitization program builds local knowledge and motivates behaviour change across Segera and neighboring areas. We combine participatory meetings, school sessions, household visits, community radio spots and printed information (IEC materials) so that people understand what to do, why it matters, and how to sustain it.
How we deliver
- Community dialogues & public forums led by trained facilitators and local leaders.
- Household visits by Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and youth mobilisers.
- School assemblies and teacher-training on hygiene & environmental stewardship.
- IEC materials (posters, leaflets) translated to local language(s) + radio messages for remote reach.
- Participatory demonstrations (e.g., hand-washing stations, seedling care, water chlorination demos).
Our Process & How We Work
At Segera CBO, every project is built with transparency, community ownership, and sustainability in mind. Here’s how we turn support into impact:
We start by listening. Through meetings, household visits, and surveys, we identify the most urgent needs. Whether it’s access to water, food relief, tree planting, or education support.
Together with local leaders and partners, we design practical solutions. Resources are mobilized, budgets are prepared, and community members are engaged early to ensure ownership.
Programs are delivered by trained teams and volunteers, with active participation from the community. From drilling boreholes to planting trees and serving meals, projects are hands on and people-centered.
We track every activity through reports, photos, attendance lists, and impact surveys. This ensures transparency for our donors and accountability to our community.
Alongside every project, we educate and train households, schools, and leaders. Knowledge ensures that programs are adopted, sustained, and multiplied.
We share updates through community meetings, annual reports, and donor updates. Every coin, every tree, every meal is accounted for.
Our approach is not about quick fixes. We build solutions that last boreholes maintained by the community, trees protected through carbon credits, and education that continues for generations.
We integrate appropriate technologies and community driven solutions to ensure efficiency, affordability, and adaptability.
We collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and private donors to strengthen impact and scale.
We train local volunteers, community health workers, and leaders so they have the skills to sustain progress.
